How well do speed cameras work in the rain?

It's raining moderately hard.
I was going thirty in a 25 when a car sped by me.
So i saw the speed camera flash in forepart of me.

That surprised me. Thought they don't work in the rain?

Can't run across why they would not work, the drops of pelting are very small compared to cars so they can probably tell the deviation. Though I gauge heavy rain would probably blanket the radar and it would not "see" cars.

I wonder how those piece of work for multi lane roads, wonder if someone passing yous could cease up with you getting the ticket, or if it knows which motorcar that'due south going faster. I've heard horror stories of parked cars getting tickets from nearby red light cameras.

I recently got nailed by a portable speed trap, no ticket in the mail still though. I totally forgot about a zone that got dropped from 60 to 50 and was doing 70. Oops. My fault, should pay more than attention to my speed, and signs.

Different wavelengths of radar are afflicted differently by rain, merely in well-nigh cases the range is simply reduced. Since speed cameras don't take a very long range, they probably aren't afflicted at all.

You're more than likely to hopefully get some reflection from the flash off a torrential downpour that makes the license plate unreadable.
